HAUMANA
Your privacy
How Haumana handles the information you entrust to us, and how to ask for access, correction or help.

Who is responsible
Haumana is operated by Haumana Limited, NZBN 9429054042728. For privacy questions or requests, contact info@haumana.co.nz and put “Privacy” in the subject line.
What we collect and why
We collect the information needed to provide your account and the features you choose to use:
- Your name, email and account details, so you can sign in, recover access and manage your account.
- Property and household details, tasks, notes, documents, warranties and vehicle information that you or authorised household members add.
- Builder contact and company details, applications, property handovers and approval records.
- Plan, payment-status and transaction references needed to administer billing. Stripe handles card entry and payment processing; Haumana does not store your full card number.
- Security and technical information, including access, error and audit records, to protect accounts, investigate faults and operate the service.
Providing account information is necessary to use an account. Other information depends on the features you choose. Only add information about other people when you have an appropriate basis to do so, and let them know how it will be used.
Sharing within a household and through handover
Authorised household members can access information according to their role. Review the recipients and documents before sharing a handover. An accepted handover can create a separate copy for the recipient. Removing your original does not necessarily remove a copy already shared.
Builders retain a handover receipt and audit trail. Their access to shared original files is time-limited; that does not give them access to a homeowner’s private account.
Service providers and overseas processing
We use Supabase for authentication, database and file storage, Stripe for payments, and Cloudflare Turnstile for abuse protection. Hosting and email providers also process information needed to run the service. Providers may process information outside New Zealand.
We use providers for service delivery and protect information through appropriate access controls and contractual arrangements. Contact us for the current provider and hosting-location details. We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information where required by law or necessary to address fraud, abuse or a security incident.
Browser storage and service messages
Your browser stores session and preference information to keep you signed in and remember your choices. Signing out ends access on that browser; take care when using shared devices. Authentication, payments and abuse-protection providers may also use storage needed for their services.
We send service messages such as email verification, password recovery, builder decisions and handover information. SMS and browser-push reminders are not included in this release.
Security and retention
We restrict access to household information and private files, and require multi-factor authentication for administrators. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
We keep information while it is needed to provide the service, maintain handover evidence, meet legal obligations or resolve disputes. Deleting a household or file may not remove independent recipient copies, retained audit or billing records, or copies in backups immediately. Contact us about account closure and deletion so we can explain what will be removed and what must be retained. We will not retain personal information longer than necessary for a lawful purpose.
If a privacy breach causes or is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify affected people and the Privacy Commissioner as required by New Zealand law.
Your access and correction rights
You can ask us for access to personal information we hold about you and request corrections. We may need to verify your identity without asking for your password. If we cannot make a requested correction, you can ask us to attach a statement of the correction you sought.
Email info@haumana.co.nz. If you are dissatisfied with how we handle a privacy concern, you can contact the New Zealand Privacy Commissioner.
